Linda Bates is a 4th generation Herbalist who grew up in UK and Greece learning how to use herbs from her mother, who learned from her mother and grandmother, a Romany gypsy herbalist. In 1966, aged 16, she came to Australia with her family. In Sydney she studied with Denis Stewart 1979 – 1981 and with Dorothy Hall 1983 – 1986 and began clinical practice in Balmain in 1984.

Moving to the Blue Mountains in 1993 she began growing herbs and wild-crafting to manufacture much of her dispensary from fresh plants. In the mountains for 10 years she became the village herbalist, in clinical practice. Here she began teaching small groups of people, in her own medicine garden, how to manage their health with fresh plants.

In 2002 Linda began teaching Herbal Medicine and Herbal Manufacturing at Nature-Care and the Australasian College of Natural Therapies for 3 years and then at the NSW College of Natural Medicine in Coffs Harbour for 2 years. Here she taught the students Therapeutics, Materia Medica, Differential Diagnosis, Clinical Practice, Growing and Manufacturing.

Returning to Sydney in 2006 Linda was soon running a busy practice in Bondi Junction with two recently qualified naturopaths as apprentices who wanted to learn more about using herbal medicine in a traditional way.

From here she continued teaching consulting and clinical practice skills and manufacturing to groups of Western Sydney University final year herbal medicine students; and teaching small groups of qualified practitioners the traditional ways of using herbal medicine and how to manufacture fresh plant tinctures, healing creams, infusions and blends of herbs and oils.

“Travelling and healing in Europe in Spring and Summer with the medicinal herbs flourishing all around me is a great joy. Walking and picking the right herbs for my patient or my hostess/friend; then brewing the fresh plants in a big pot on the stove fills the house with the smells of medicine from the Earth. It draws everyone in the house and they all want some.”

Linda has delivered many talks for Nat.Herbalist Assoc. of Aust. International conferences; given talks on important aspects of Traditional Herbal Medicine for Herbal Extract Company and the Pharmaceutical Plant Company; served on the NHAA Board of Directors. She has been awarded by the N.H.A.A. for Notable Contributions to Herbal Medicine in Australia and is a Fellow of the NHAA.

Travelling, consulting online and teaching for much of the last 10 years Linda has worked in Findhorn, Scotland, UK and Norway while still consulting with her Australian patients when they need her.

You can see more about Linda on her personal website: www.lindabatesherbalmedicine.com where you can also purchase special mixes and creams to support you.

Gem has always been drawn to the philosophy of earth- to- table cooking. Using fresh medicinal herbs, organic fruit and vegetables as well as fresh ground spices she created a holistic boutique catering business using fresh, vibrant food full of life force. She is a professional cook for retreats and events and spends her spare time in the kitchen creating. She has also worked with bustling Sydney cafes, tweaking their menus to squeeze in as many medicinal super foods as she can.

Guided by her palate, Gem has travelled extensively, spending time with nomadic communities around the world, learning traditional methods of both cooking and herbal medicine. After completing studies in Nutritional Medicine, Gem felt called to share her knowledge by empowering people to make food and lifestyle choices to improve their vitality and support their lives.  Next came a Health Science degree majoring in Western Herbal Medicine, after she experienced the healing power of medicinal herbs through healing her own serious digestive issues.

Her personal health journey has led her deep into the science of gut health and healing, which has strengthened her understanding. This supports her to work with her clients from a place of compassion with experiential and scientific knowledge.

Since 2018 Gem has also been attending classes and special workshops to learn Manufacturing your Herbal Dispensary, Mixing and Dosing skills for specific conditions, and Clinical Strategies for gut repair using herbal medicine with Linda Bates, Traditional Herbalist. Often catering for these workshops with Linda so the group can experience the tastiest food so easy to digest. And with a name like Pokryzwa, which means Nettle, you would think she’s on her right path!

"If I had to say what I love doing most in clinic, I would have to say I love working with any sort of infection and infection control, sexual and vaginal health, gut health and rebuilding/ resetting optimal gut health and mental health support, but really I don’t have a favourite thing, I just love being able to support people in a truly holistic way that helps them on their journey to better health and wellbeing!"

  • Level I and II Training on Vaginal and Intimate Health
  • Infection Control and Healthy Body Systems
  • Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs

Michelle has always had an affinity with plants, whether that was inside or outside! She had a particular interest in herbs as a child and this was nurtured by her father. He made her a small garden plot which kept expanding until it became quite large. During her teenage years she could usually be found among her herbs, weeding, replanting or harvesting. Her mother used to let her put fresh herbs in family meals and her passion kept right on growing!

Michelle was guided to help others in her final years at high school and began working in youth refuges and women and children’s crisis services after graduating from high school in 1997. However her passion for plants and plant medicine has never waned and she completed her Advanced Diploma in Western Herbal Medicine in 2016.

While studying Michelle was fortunate enough to work as the assistant to a highly experienced and well-known herbalist. She was a traditional herbalist, trained by Dorothy Hall, and registered with the professional association. Her patients were local people and others from all over the world who she consulted with online. Michelle herself gained much knowledge and experience from this and also learned how to support the health of dogs and cats with natural herbal medicines, which she still really enjoys doing.

Michelle opened her own private clinic at the beginning of 2017. She loves the grass-roots of herbal medicine and makes a number of blends of medicinal herbal teas.  She makes her own Hypericum and Calendula infused oils from fresh picked herbs, then blends them into healing creams and oils for her patients.

Michelle has always been a ‘learner’ and enjoys discovering and gaining new skills. She has attended several of Linda Bates’ workshops with Sandra Parker in Tasmania learning how to manufacture herbal medicines, liquid and topical products and their first Clinical Strategies workshop on female hormones and reproductive health.

For the last 3 years, she has been attending Linda’s Clinical Strategies summer school workshops on gut health as well as ongoing courses  in inflammation, immunity and autoimmunity.

"The herbal medicine works hand in hand with clients physical challenges.. If someone comes in with poor sleep I can make a sleep tonic for them. If they have joint pain that stops them from exercising I can make a herb mix to change that. It is a holistic approach for better life outcomes!"

Michelle is a qualified Weight Management Practitioner and runs a Weight Management Clinic, both face to face and online. In this programme she supports people over 12 weeks in weight loss management and guides them to make better, healthier lifestyle choices to improve health. The 12 weeks includes meal plans, nutrition advice and counselling, motivation and support to help them achieve their set goals.

Qualifications

  • Western Herbal Medicine Practitioner & Naturopath
  • Adv Dip Western Herbal Medicine
  • Adv Dip Naturopathy
  • BNSc (former Registered Nurse)

Tracey is a Traditional Western Herbalist with an Adv Dip Western Herbal Medicine and while she also holds an Adv Dip Naturopathy she calls herself an herbalist as herbs are her true passion. She also loves to use flower essences and her intuitive gifts to assist client’s with the underlying emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual aspects of their physical health issues.

Tracey worked as a registered nurse in the public hospital system for twelve years prior to becoming a herbalist. She wanted to study herbal medicine when she finished high school and used to devour books on herbal medicine as a teenager…but life had other plans. A move to a remote town in the bush put her desires on hold. In these years she completed a Bachelor of Nursing Science, worked as a registered nurse in the public hospital. Eventually she began to experience health issues that could no longer be ignored thus triggering her deep search for healing.

It was when Tracey took some time off work to focus on her health that she realised it was time to follow her heart and she enrolled in an Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy and Western Herbal Medicine. Throughout her studies she gave birth to two beautiful children who only made me more determined to be an example to them of what it means to live in alignment with nature and use plants as medicine.

Her life as a herbalist brings her much joy. She loves nothing more than to hear another person’s story and to connect into ancient plant medicine to create herbal blends assisting the clients’ return to health, alignment and harmony. Tracey’s intuitive skills alongside her nursing knowledge and experience make her a gifted and well-rounded herbalist.

Tracey currently consults online from her clinic in tropical Cairns, far north Queensland. She continues to deepen her knowledge of traditional herbal medicine from Linda Bates including herbal manufacturing, mixing and dosing for specific conditions and clinical strategies. She has travelled long distances to attend in person workshops with Linda and also continues to learn online.

still wondering if herbal medicine is for you?

  • Herbs are the first medicine and traditional plant medicine is currently used by 75% of people on earth.
  • Medicinal herbs contain special ingredients known by scientific research to heal and restore tissue and function.
  • These same herbs we use today have been used for 3,500 years. That’s a long evidence base.
  • They are used in your supplements and your health and beauty products to make sure they work for you.

What is Herbal Medicine?

Simple! Herbal medicine is just like regular medicine but it’s all plant-based and entirely natural.

In fact, this is exactly how medicine has been for most of human history. It’s only in the last two hundred years that drugs and chemicals made in the laboratory have started trying to take over.

How can it help me?

The key thing with herbal medicine is that it’s designed FOR YOUR body.

Artificial drugs can be quite harmful to your body, causing nasty side effects and making you feel even more ill than you already were. On top of that, unless you have some chemistry training, it can be difficult to understand what you’re actually taking.

In comparison, herbal medicine is entirely natural and people have been using it for thousands of years. You know exactly what you’re taking and it’s designed to fix the problem in a soothing way, so that you actually feel better.

Additionally, herbal medicine can be more affordable and accessed without needing a doctor’s script.

Why Reboot Plus?

At Reboot Plus, we take herbal medicine and blend it with a healthy dose of personal, caring service.

We are using more than 36 years of professional clinical experience to create a remedy specific to your body’s needs. We treat the person and the causes, not the symptoms.

Because of this, you can be 100% sure that you’ll get results in the most natural, soothing, and comfortable way possible.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, upon whose country we are based.
