To help people learn how to use herbs as medicine we provide courses for the following groups of people:
Workshops are live events which will be offered regularly – which you can attend.
Online Courses come with weekly lessons and support for your learning process. We can be in your lounge room, or kitchen, every week guiding you. They will come on Zoom – live online.
Webinars are small films on specific subjects. E.g. you might choose one on how to make a medicinal strength herbal infusion to treat your head cold. These will be pre-recorded.
Live Q and A sessions will need to be booked in advance and held on Zoom. Like a chat with a maximum of 10 people at a time. These will be free.
Each private consultation will last for 1 hour – 1 and half hours and charged accordingly. The first consultation will be 15 minutes and will be free. So you can find out the best service for you and your ailments.
The cost of each service will appear at the details of each service.

Herbal Medicine is very safe. Herb teas are very, very hard to make strong enough to be more than health maintenance which may help to restore you over a long period of time.
Herb tinctures are used only by professionally trained herbalists. Compared to herb teas tinctures are very strong so the doses used are very small, and will depend on the condition of the patient and the size and strength of the patient – the life force at the time of treatment.
Medicinal herbs can be divided up into mild tonic herbs that can be taken for long periods of time and they are commonly used for chronic conditions; medium strength herbs which are used for chronic conditions and for acute conditions; and strong
herbs which have strong actions and are used in severe and acute illnesses and they need to be carefully prescribed and only used for short periods of time, and carefully mixed with mild and tonic herbs to balance their strong actions. This ensures the body gentle but powerful healing support.
Modern herbalists don’t use herbs that have been found to be somewhat dangerous or toxic any more. Luckily we have modern medicine to help with dramatic emergencies these days.
A lot of research has been and is going on to make sure we don’t prescribe herbs which are contra-indicated alongside certain pharmaceutical drugs. If you are concerned about mixing your medications you need to discuss this with your Herbalist or Naturopath. We have lists of research results that are sent out to us and regularly updated.
It is not wise to discuss your herbal medicines with your doctor. They have no training at all in the use of herbal medicines, their actions and effects, just as we have no training in the use of pharmaceutical products or surgery. Your doctor will very likely express their prejudices, their opinions and fears to you and some may even demand that you go off herbal medicines.
Maybe make it simple by giving your pharmaceutical tablet list to your Herbalist and give them a chance to check with the research they hold. Or ask your doctor to speak with your herbalist to work this out OR tell your doctor you are confident that your herbalist is very experienced and belongs to a professional association and has done the checks.
Yes herbal medicine is very successful for anxiety, depression and insomnia. Research and trials have shown us how and why many of our herbs can help you with these problems.
We source our herbs from our Manufacturers here in Australia. They are licensed by the Therapeutic Goods Association and their facilities are checked for good manufacturing practices. They take great care to source organically grown herbs for manufacturing their tinctures with and are only allowed to sell their medicinal tinctures to qualified practitioners.
In my clinical practice I use approx 250 herbal tinctures. If you want to grow some herbs at home you could start with a good culinary herb garden and learn how to use the herbs for medicine with our courses. All the culinary herbs are good medicines. You just need to learn what they are good for and how to make medicines with them.
Herbal medicine mixed and specially designed for you can only be obtained from a professional herbalist after they have diagnosed what is causing your condition and what herbs you need.
I use about 11 herbs in a mix for a patient. The art of diagnosing, prescribing, mixing and dosing with tinctures takes many years to learn and is something I teach professionals.
The mixes I have used again and again with great success so that they have become standards, and are
always successful, can be found and purchased on my personal website: www.lindabatesherbalmedicine.com
However it is best if you don’t do your own diagnosing and prescribing – it taskes many years of study and practice to become good with herbs, And when you are herbs can work faster than anything.
In the past a herbalist learned by apprenticeship to an experienced medicine woman, or man. And this took 10 years. My teacher had 30 years clinical experience when she taught me.
